Nutravet sponsors Mount Toubkal climb in aid of Leukaemia
A group of veterinary surgeons decided over a glass of wine to climb Mount Toubkal in Morocco in aid of Leukaemia. This is a 4167 metre Mountain in the Atlas mountains and is the highest mountain in North Africa.
After flying to Marrakesh and spending a day exploring the wonderful city they drove into the mountains and set off along the trail. Their bags were carried by a very friendly mule which enabled them to fully take in the stunning scenery. They stayed a night in dormitory at 3,300 metres and set off early the next morning to the summit, guided by a local guide named Hassan and reaching the summit after 5 hours of strenuous walking, just as the fog cleared from the summit. With a little snow on the mountains the views were fantastic.
Having descended most of the mountain that day the team were all fairly exhausted but elated. The team spirit in the group had been high and aided by a wonderful guide that helped enable every-one to reached the summit.
Present on the trip were Danny Callery, Alan Robinson, Vicky Gower, Enid Frantilla , Sterling Thomas, Michelle Lingard, Mike Bevan, Mandy Mayo, Andi Gilbody, Ian and Jackie MacQueen.
The team were grateful to Nutravet for their generous provision of t-shirts and fleeces for the climb.
